A picturesque view of a waterfront in Livorno, Italy. The scene captures a series of elegant, historic buildings along the water’s edge, bathed in warm sunlight. Small boats are moored in the calm, reflective waters of the canal. A stone bridge arches over the water, adding to the charm of the setting. The sky is clear and blue.

We were married for three years, Domenica and I, and never once thought about divorce — murder, yes, but not divorce.

After the way we separated, I would have never gone back to Livorno, if it were not for the unexpected email she sent me a month or so before.
